Grisham - The Rainmaker

Thinking about the name!
After finishing this novel, my interesting question was why this novel was name "The Rainmaker". I googled it to find the meaning - Sorry my memory for words is less! pardon me! I came to know later why it gots it name.
1) Informal. One who is known for achieving excellent results in a profession or field, such as business or politics.
2) One who is believed to be capable of producing rain, as through magical or ritual actions.
The informal meaning makes sense in this novel.
The Story !
The story is about a young graduate of Memphsis state Law school who makes his way and ended up as an Lawyer who got a big fish in the hook. The novel made into a movie with the same name. Matt Damon acted as young Rudy. I didnt see the movie, thought of seeing it later.
The novel opens where Rudy and his college friends helping the elders to deal with their legal problems with the help of a professor. Later Rudy crosses many phases in his life - Falling in love with his college mate, wandering the streets of memphsis - Jobless searching for one, a street lawyer searching in the streets for nasty insurance cases. He know his key to success is the one important case in hand - Case of Dot and Black to sue the "The Great Benefit Insurance Co".
He will work hard to win this against the giant organization. I didnt like the end where he will join his life partner, quitting the lawyer profession and thinking of some other !
Will meet with more views.

Sidney Sheldon Week

Last week i have been introspecting on my reading. I am bit slow reader who is cruising in the pages of the novel like a tortoise. My desire for speed reading is burning. I am thinking of improving my reading speed, so i deceided to start with fresh 2 novels of Sydney Sheldon - "The Doomsday Conspiracy" and "Master of the Game". Both these novels are astonishing, I can't able to moor the boat when i am cruising in these 2 boats. Master piece definitely! Master of the plot - eulogies for Sydney Sheldon. Once i realized these eulogies suit him well.
Doomsday Conspiracy:
Robert Bellamy - hero of Doomsday Conspiracy remainded me of Rober Langdon. I admired Bellamy, a polyglot who can speak 6 languages. The fatcs in the end of the book by the author is fascinating. I sometimes doubted whether these things existed in the universe. It remainded me of Shyamalan's movie - The Signs. Good read for those who love espionage/spy kind of Novels.
Master of the Game:
Truly amazing plot fot the story. In the beginning you will be engrossed by Jamie Mcgregor - father of kate and his vengence to San Van De Merwe ( A dutch name i didnt remember properly - not good at names hehehe). It remainded of the movie - Shawsank Redemption and Alexandar Dumas story (The Count of Mounte Cristo). His sustaining experience in Africa is interesting. Then comes our heroine, master - Kate Blackwell (Daughter of Jamie). Her characterization and her ways of mastering/manipulating people, even her own son is good. Its worth one weekend spending after all i thought.

BRETHREN - John Grisham

Hi,
Recently i finished reading Brethren - a good novel by John Grisham. The plot for the story was excellent. The story is about 3 Old judges who were arrested for their Crimes, ended up in a same prison. These 3 conspired a plan toc create a scam and earn money and freedom. The story was moving interestingly. They hooked a big shot in a scam and got pardon from the prison because of the big shot. Nice story to read - overall.

Kite Runner

Hi All,
This time i came with a book of different flavor. It reminded me of my childhood memories and i cherished reading the mischief of Ali and Amir. The author has portrayed those 2 characters well so that those 2 gets a place in your heart. I really felt sorry for Ali, poor boy who supported his boss's (whom he worked for) Son. The stories shows the real life in Afghanistan after the taliban entered. I am not really interested in these kind of stories. But this one impresses me a lot. I was curious towards the end of the story, how Amir happens to end up with his enemy and how he saved his own brother's son from Afghanisthan and migrated to USA. All credits to Khaled Hossaini. I am looking forward to start his next book "A Thousand Splendid Sun". Meet u all in my next blog after reading another book.
Thanks,
